LSP Celebrates First Safety and Health Day, Strengthens Safety Culture with Employees, Contractors, and Partners

Ba Ria – Vung Tau, April 28–29, 2025 – Long Son Petrochemicals (LSP) hosted its first Safety and Health Day under the theme “We’re the Lifesaver.” The event marked the celebration of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work and the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health in Vietnam, reaffirming LSP’s unwavering commitment to creating a safe and healthy workplace for all.

The two-day event brought together over 800 employees, contractors, and business partners, strengthening the collective commitment to safety as a shared responsibility. The program was carefully designed in two parts: one dedicated to employees and contractors, and the other to business partners, but both shared a common objective in which to deepen understanding, foster a strong safety culture, and celebrate excellence in safety performance.

At LSP, safety is more than a rule — it is a core value and a way of life. “Our goal is simple: zero accidents. But more importantly, we want every one of us to return home safely at the end of each day,” said Mr. Kulachet Dharachandra, General Director of LSP.

The event featured engaging exhibitions, interactive games, and learning activities aimed at reinforcing critical safety rules and procedures.

Special recognition was also given to business partners who demonstrated exceptional commitment to safety during 2023–2024.

“Our trusted partners and their frontline teams are true Lifesavers, standing side-by-side with us every day,” added Mr. Kulachet. “Today is not just about celebrating achievements; it is about reinforcing our shared responsibility for protecting every person involved in our operations. Together, we build a culture of safety, integrity, and care.”

Moving forward, LSP will continue reinforcing our safety culture with the integration of a World-class Process Safety Management (PSM) system in 2025 and beyond. The Safety and Health Day also aligns with LSP’s broader commitment to ESG, ensuring that safety, integrity, and social responsibility remain the foundation of how we conduct our business in a sustainable manner.

Process Safety Management (PSM)

Process Safety Management (PSM) is a comprehensive and structured framework aimed at preventing the unintentional release of hazardous chemicals that could lead to serious incidents such as fires, explosions, or toxic exposures. It is widely adopted across the manufacturing sector, particularly in industries like petrochemical to uphold the highest safety standards and protect employees, communities, and the environment.

PSM is built around 14 key elements that collectively address all critical aspects of process safety, including hazard analysis, mechanical integrity, employee training, management of change, emergency planning, and continuous auditing and improvement. By implementing a full PSM program, the company is committing to a proactive approach that systematically identifies, evaluates, and controls process-related hazards. This initiative reflects our dedication to operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and the long-term safety and well-being of all stakeholders.
