Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh, 20th September 2025 – Long Son Petrochemicals or LSP collaborated with Vung Tau People’s Committee, Long Son People’s Committee, AGC Chemicals Vietnam, Toan Thang Engineering, Khanh Linh Equipment & Engineering JSC and Blue Ocean Club to organize the “International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day 2025” in the beach area from Tam Thang Square to Nghinh Phong Cape.
The event brought more than 600 volunteers, including local authorities, partners, residents, students, and LSP employees, who cleared a 2.3 km stretch of coastline to protect marine ecosystems and promote environmental awareness.

Mr. Chitchanop Ekkomonrat, Maintenance Director of LSP, stated at the event, “Each year, millions of tons of waste end up in the oceans, harming marine life, disrupting ecosystems and especially threatening human health. This reminds us that protecting our oceans is not just a choice – it’s a necessity for our shared future. Today, as we join hands to clean up 2.3 kilometers of coastline, we are sending out a powerful message – Every small action makes a big difference. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the local authorities, our partners, and volunteers who are here with us today. Your presence demonstrates the true power of community in protecting our beautiful coastline.”

Waste from the cleanup was sorted, with recyclables sold to local junk shops. The proceeds were presented to Vung Tau Ward People’s Committee for local environmental initiatives. This aligns with the company’s flagship sustainability program, “Rac Khong Thai” (Waste Rescue Mission), which promotes waste segregation at source in Long Son Commune. Since 2020, the program has diverted over 24,000 kg of recyclables back into the production cycle. The program is now implemented in households, schools, temples, and offices in Long Son commune, and also at LSP workplaces.

Beyond cleanup efforts, LSP recently launched a pilot project that turns discarded fishing nets into marketable products, creating new income opportunities for local residents while removing harmful debris from the sea.
The “International Coastal Cleanup Day” is a global annual event that encourages people to remove trash from beaches and waterways. This year marked the 40th anniversary of the campaign and the 2nd year LSP organized the event. We proudly collected approximately 966 kilograms of trash, including 65kg recyclable waste. In addition to the direct benefit of removing trash from the environment, the data collected will be sent to Ocean Conservancy in the United States to be combined with data from other countries, contributing to sustainable long-term solutions for marine debris issues.
