Long Son Commune, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Vietnam, October 26, 2024 – Long Son Petrochemicals (LSP), a leading green petrochemical manufacturer in Vietnam, joined forces with Vina Logistics Corporation (VNL) and local authorities including the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (BRVT DARD), the Provincial Military Command, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3, and Nha Lon Long Son to plant 3,786 green trees across Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
This program is part of the national effort under Decision No. 524/QĐ-TTg dated April 1st, 2021, by the Prime Minister, which aims for net zero by 2050 and 1 billion trees during the 2021-2025 period and aligns with Plan No. 100/KH-SNN on “The Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho” from BR-VT DADR.
LSP and VNL collaborated with various organizations to plant 3,786 trees in Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The Provincial Military planted 2,500 trees in Ba Ria, Chau Duc, and Xuyen Moc, while the Coast Guard Region 3 planted 1,166 trees along the road in Long Son and at the Coast Guard headquarters. Additionally, Nha Lon Long Son planted 120 trees at the Big House. These newly planted trees will play a crucial role in absorbing carbon dioxide and mitigating climate change, while also creating greener spaces for local communities.
Mr. Rakphon Sooksiri, Manufacturing Director – Upstream of LSP stated at the event, “For LSP, the environment is one of our top priorities. Apart from bringing high technology for green manufacturing, we have initiated and collaborated with local authorities and our business partners on various environmental protection activities, including tree planting. Today, alongside our partner VNL, we reaffirm our commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. The trees we plant today symbolize our collective responsibility to the planet and our commitment to a sustainable future. Each tree represents a meaningful step toward cleaner air, a healthier environment, and a better world for our future generations.”
LSP has a strong track record of environmental stewardship. To date, the company has planted over 23,200 trees on land and an additional 243,000 mangrove trees, contributing to the absorption of approximately 1,436 tons of CO2 annually.
Beyond tree planting, LSP has implemented several initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint. These include installing a 100-kW solar panel system, which has generated 182,221 kWh of electricity in the past year, and using electric forklifts in warehouses, which has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 220,975 kgCO2e in 2024 alone. These efforts have resulted in significant reductions in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
